That's right - Founders Vault is up and running. When I've been thinking about the problems entrepreneurs face - I've come up with lots of different product ideas which could help. From journals, to display boards, to games and more. I wanted to create a product which was simple to create and easy to stock as we build our customer base, but also valuable to keep entrepreneurs focused.
Some of the considerations I had to make when choosing a first product was:
Affordable first run of production
Ability to make enough profit to afford a second run of production
Takes up limited space at home to store
Be useful to aspiring entrepreneurs
When I considered these factors, I choose to create a 50 Goals for Entrepreneurs Scratch Poster. Entrepreneurs often don't know what big goals to aim for or recognise how far they have come, and I thought this idea could be a useful way to capture that. I have a 100 Things To Do Before You Die scratch poster as well as a scratch travel map at home, but had never seen anything like that for entrepreneurs.
I got to work designing the poster, integrating our bright Founders Vault branding with fifty varied goals from basic business sets such as setting up a website or making your first sale, to larger goals like hiring 100 employees or reaching one million followers, as well as lifestyle goals such as flying on a private jet, or winning an award.
The hardest stage in the process was finding suppliers who could produce our product at the right price. I expected to have to use international suppliers, and despite doing lots of Googling and contacting several companies on Alibaba, I was able to find a UK-based supplier who could produce our product at the best cost. I then had to make a plan for packaging, including designing thanks cards, ordering protective tissue paper and postal tubes. It was certainly an exciting day when a pallet of boxes of postal tubes arrived at my flat.
The process so far has been a big learning curve from choosing the idea, designing it, ordering supplies and packaging it up. However, as of October 2020, we now have our first product ready to ship and the challenge of marketing our products begins. You can buy a poster by going to our online shop.
I'm hoping our Founders Vault range will be able to expand soon, with more motivational posters, goal setting tools and even an entrepreneurs journal. If you have an idea, get in touch at hello@foundersvault.co.uk and remember to follow us on Instagram.
